Excellent book by intelligent research MD who knows his stuff! Haven't finished it yet, but I have jumped around and am very impressed. It was recommended to me as I am a holistic nurse and health coach and do't go along with all my regular docs say--they just don't KNOW this stuff! Okay I like nerdy medical books, but this one is a must for someone who has a child with a family history of Bi-Polar. Omega 3 now comes in chewable's for children 2 and up it is an essential supplement for building a healthy brain for children and repairing the years of neglect and bad food choices for adults.

Adults should be on Omega 3,6,9 not medical advise read the book. Omega 3,6,9 comes in flax seed Oil base for vegetarians and Fish oil for non Vegitarians. This is a book that can be life changing.

It's extremely solid, clearly written, for the lay person, and fully documented, and it concerns Dr. Stoll's claims as to the benefits of taking Omega-3 oil supplements. It was recommended to me by a Nurse Practitioner at the Hospital Clinic where I go for regular medical care, and it has caused a revolution in my life.

We live in a wilderness of self help and health care books that can confuse us and numb us with their contradictory claims. But be assured this book is a thorough and brilliant record of the results of actual medical research. Stoll's work with Omega-3 was done at Harvard, and he knows whereof he speaks. He is not the only one recommending that we take Omega-3 supplements to make up for the deficiencies in our "modern" diet.

Indeed many many doctors are now talking about this, and word can not spread too fast. Read this book.

And take it from this reader: I was initially skeptical of Omega-3 claims as just more hype for the food supplement industry.

However I read in a reputable textbook ""Biochemical and Physiological Aspects of Human Nutrition" by Martha H Stephanie that Omega3 fatty acids are now considered "essential fatty acids" and she explained why. Also the 17th edition of the Merck Manual briefly indicates that the EPA and DHA found in fish oils are essential fatty acids and recommends a ratio of Omega 3 fatty acids are essential building blocks for the retina in the eye, nerve tissue, the brain and control details of the proper nutritional balance of cells in the body Since omega 6 is the primary fat in corn, soy, and safflower oils, the typical American diet contains a ratio of 10, 20 or 40 to 1 for omega 6 to omega 3.

If you don't have enough omega 3 or if the ratio is too high in omega 6 there can be profound health consequences. After reading this book it I think it may be the most important health book of this year maybe this century and is MUST reading for anyone concerned for the health of their children. I sent a copy to each of my daughters so my grandchildren can benefit from this new information.
